Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the Questions Brooklyn Carpet Cleaner Receives the Most

How soon will I be able to walk on my carpet again?

We recommend you keep to a minimum regular traffic off the carpet for a period of 2 hours. You may use the carpet lightly immediately after cleaning by wearing socks or house slippers. Walking on freshly cleaned carpet with bare feet may leave oil spots.

How long will it take my carpet to dry?

Normal drying time is from 6-24 hours, depending on the humidity level in the air, air movement and room temperature. Do not be alarmed if it takes longer especially when Teflon or Scotchgard has been applied.

How long will it take my furniture to dry?

It typically takes anywhere from 6-8 hours. We recommend to abstain from using until the next morning.

Will all the spots come out?

We treat all spotted areas with the most professional techniques available today. However, we can not guarantee the removal. Many agents affect carpet dyes and spots set in if not blotted up immediately.

How safe are your cleaning and protection methods?

We use only the safest, most effective technology to assure not only your satisfaction, but your safety as well. We do not use any chemicals nor will we leave any irritant residues.

I've heard it's best to put off having your carpet cleaned as long as possible, is this true?

No. In fact, many of the major carpet mills today recommend professional cleaning at least once per 6-8 months. The build up of soil in your carpet in combination with foot traffic creates abrasion that breaks down your carpet's fibres. The higher the traffic in a given area, the more often the carpet will need cleaning. www.lungusa.org.

What does "Cleaning to the standards" mean?

In 1992, representatives from the carpet manufacturing industry, the carpet cleaning industry, and the federal government set a common set of standards for the carpet cleaning industry. These standards are now referred to as the Soo1-92 standards. It was agreed that each of these cleaning processes should include these common steps.

Pre-vacuum, pre-treat spots & stains and heavily soiled areas, hot water extraction, a thorough rinse furniture moving.
Cleaning your carpet in accordance to these industry standards will help assure that you'll get a quality cleaning job.

Can you get the pet odor out of my carpet?

Pet odor is a very common problem that could be much more complex than on first impression.Pet urine can easily soak through the backing of the carpet into the padding underneath. In more severe cases the urine can penetrate into the sub-floor beneath the padding. This creates a problem that is multi-layered.The urine also provides for the growth of bacteria. This in turn contributes to a worsening of the odor problem and can contribute to permanent color loss of the carpet fiber.

To eliminate this problem, the urine must be removed or neutralized from each of the layers affected. If the contamination is limited to only the face yarn of the carpet then the cleaning itself may effectively remove the odor. In more severe cases a urine neutralizer may be applied. In the most severe cases, replacement of the carpet padding, treatment of the under-side of the carpet and the sub-floor may be required.

My carpet has bleached or faded spots, can you correct that?

If there is color loss in the carpet, it may be able to be spot dyed, or we can do a carpet repair for you by replacing that area of carpet with another piece from our stock.
